Getting Gas

Your gas certificate
All gasfitting must be self-certified by a qualified and licensed certifier. Certification is carried out by a craftsman gasfitter or a person holding a certificate of exemption to certify particular gasfitting as authorised by the Plumbers Gasfitters and Drainlayers Board.

All properties where gas is installed, both domestic and commercial, must have a gas certificate. These certificates are currently being incorporated into the Board’s website, and the current paper based system is being phased out.

For more information on what work should be certified, what a certificate looks like, and other gas certificate related questions, please go to the Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers Board website .

The Board is a appointed by government. It is charged with the promotion of high standards of work, professional conduct, and the protection of public health and safety through the registration and licensing of competent plumbers, gasfitters and drainlayers.

Information regarding the plumbing, gasfitting and drainlaying sector can be found at the Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers Board website.
