The gas industry codes and protocols are published as per below. These are periodically updated and replaced as required.

Protocols
There are a number of protocols that apply to the gas industry. These are largely voluntary and self-regulating. Most of these are protocols that apply within the industry itself and are as follows:

• Gas Industry Disconnection and Reconnection Protocol GIP001 –1.3 22 June 2006


• Gas Industry Event Notification Protocol GIP002 – Version 1.0 17 May 2005


• Gas Industry New Connection Protocol GIP003 – Issue 1.0 22 February 2006


• The Gas Industry Emergency Response – Code of Co-operation GIP004 – Issue 1.0 June 2005 has been deleted as the same has been incorporated into the New Zealand Gas Industry Mutual Aid Plan.

  NZUAG
  The New Zealand Utilities Advisory Group is a joint consultative group of road owners and utility companies working together to create outcomes to benefit all road users and communities. A charter of understanding (link to .pdf) has been agreed by members of the NZUAG as to how roading corridor issues, such as digging, are managed.
